Morgan Metzger, LCSW, | Therapist

As a social worker, I know that all humans have ups and downs and that life is not always easy. If you find yourself feeling anxious and stressed out often, not able to enjoy life’s little moments, needing support with a big change or you have a general feeling of being stuck, working with me could be right for you. I recognize how important talk-therapy can be as I have experienced these all too common situations myself. As a young adult living in today's world, I have my fair share of experience with anxiety and stress. I believe when seeking out a therapist, being able to relate is a key factor in success.
At the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), I majored in Social Work and Human Development and Family Studies which allowed me to learn the complicated aspects that accompany people in all stages of life. I believe by focusing on how people grow and change over time, and the nature of these changes, I can help you move smoothly through the many adjustments of life.
I practice EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, and am trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which allows me to help you be present in the moment so you can work through difficult situations, build confidence and stop overthinking. During my sessions, I help heal by walking alongside you with a strengths-based, compassionate approach. I help you identify and use your strengths, learn new coping skills and improve self-awareness. I listen without judgment, provide support and help you understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
I do my best to practice what I preach so I can fully show up for each and every one of my clients. When I'm not working, I am usually climbing to the top of a mountain, taking pictures, petting all the dogs I can, doing yoga or reading some kind of fantasy fiction. I'm also a Nintendo lover and will absolutely beat you at any Mario related game. Fortunately for my prospective clients, insurance doesn't allow me to bill for that.

Specialities

I specialize in working with adults who struggle with anxiety, stress, grief and loss and have a desire to improve their overall well-being.
As a certified Pet Loss and Grief Companion, I am dedicating part of my practice helping those who have lost their pets work through their grief. Because their love is so unconditional, these losses are usually devastating. Pet parents are often caught in the middle - able to grieve but unable to mourn. Whether you are experiencing anticipatory grief with aging or sick pets or after the loss of a pet, I am here to support you. Work with me to learn how to move smoothly through the grief process while honoring your pet.
